Okay, but: Harry and Ron having a secret handshake.
… and it’s ridiculously long and complex
Okay, but like.
Some bad guy knows Harry and Ron have a secret handshake, and takes the effort to learn it before trying to impersonate Harry. And like. Ron goes through the whole secret handshake with fake-Harry and at the end straight-up punches him out.
Later on, he’s like, “But I did the secret handshake right! I know I did!“
And Ron’s like, “Yeah, and it got you too distracted to dodge. I’ve known Harry since we were 11, you think I need a secret handshake to recognize him?”
(I’m sorry, I’m a sucker for “Ron immediately recognizes Harry in disguise” and/or “Ron immediately spots someone disguised as Harry” as a “What, you think I can’t recognize my best friend?” trope.)
I’m pretty sure I’ll always reblog this whenever it comes up on my dash because I LOVE it
Harry Potter has to go into the lake and find his Wheezy. Find my what? And take his Wheezy back from the merpeople! What’s a Wheezy? Your Wheezy, sir, your Wheezy — Wheezy who is giving Dobby his jumper! Dobby plucked at the shrunken maroon sweater he was now wearing over his shorts. What? Harry gasped. They’ve got… they’ve got Ron?The thing Harry Potter will miss the most, sir!
The reason Harry never truly grasps the depth of Ron’s insecurity about being least loved until witnessing the destruction of the horcrux is because Ron has been Harry’s most loved since the day they met.
Re-reading The Order of the Phoenix and I really like that personal growth moment Harry has where he’s super jealous of Ron being made prefect, but then he feels like a major asshole and is like “I’m not better than Ron at anything, besides maybe quidditch” and then examines how Ron is always pushed to one side or overshadowed in favor of someone else and ends up being really happy that Ron made Prefect because he deserved it
‘tis the season to remember ron weasley is the best friend someone could have. he knew harry wasn’t expecting any christmas presents so he mentioned that to his mom who hand-knitted harry a sweater
and sent him a large box of homemade fudge.
