but uGH book!harry was so passionate and charismatic and witty and sarcastic and a natural leader and he didn’t fucking need ginny to yell at a group to stfu to get them to listen to him because if harry wanted you to listen he would MAKE YOU FUCKING LISTEN because when he was angry he was intimidating as fuck and he had this intensity about him like he was usually pretty chill and laid back and up for a laugh but you knew if you really pissed him off he might kill you because he had so much inner rage because of his shitty life and sometimes he would explode and he also had an ego like he was humble but also arrogant at times and he could be such a douche but also super nice and like he’ll save your life but he won’t bother being your friend because who the fuck are you to him really and jesus fucking christ HE WAS SO INTERESTING and movie!harry is like blandass oatmeal with no flavor like he was just such a flat character with no charisma NEVER FORGET WHAT THEY DID TO HARRY.

endless list of female characters: ginny weasley.
well, that was a bit stupid of you, seeing as you don’t know anyone but me who’s been possessed by you-know-who, and i can tell you how it feels. i forgot. lucky you.
What the world sees Harry Potter as: A somewhat bland protagonist. A little serious, and without much of a sense of humour. Why didn’t he end up with Hermione? And why did he keep Ron around?
What Harry actually is: A complete sass-master and sarcastic joker. Hot-headed and brash, with a fierce protectiveness over the people he cares about. Treats Hermione as his big sister, and finds her really annoying most of the time. Wouldn’t be able to function without his best mate and platonic life-partner Ronald Bilius Weasley. Will probably curse you if you diss Ron. NO-ONE disses his wheezy.
What the world sees Hermione Granger as: Bad-ass female role model, and a literal genius. Incredibly beautiful, brilliant at all forms of magic, and almost perfect in every way. Literally the reason why Harry survived everything throughout the series. Why did she settle for Ron?
What Hermione actually is: A vindictive know-it-all, but has a heart-of-gold and loves her friends deeply. Is jealous, emotionally insensitive, and has trouble socialising. While responsible for the book-smarts, she is also prone to ignoring small but important details that are important in the wider picture. Will start fist-fights with anyone who dares besmirch the name of the love of her life, Ron Weasley.
What the world sees Ron as: The sidekick and comic-relief of the trio. Eats a lot, and makes Hermione cry. Makes a lot of dumb jokes and silly faces. Not a brilliant friend, by most accounts. Emotional range of a teaspoon. How did he land such a great girl as Hermione?
What Ron actually is: The heart and soul of the golden trio. Completely irreplaceable to both Harry and Hermione. A literal cinnamon roll that deserves the world. Quite possibly the funniest and wittiest person you will ever meet. Has the best and healthiest emotional range of the trio. A flawed but solidly good individual who made mistakes, but always came through for his friends in the end. Has the best character arc of the three protagonists, and a great example of a person rising above their flaws and self-doubts. Never thought he was good enough for anything, but eventually developed his own self-confidence. The perfect match for Hermione in every way; the yin to her yang, the calm to her intensity, the water to her fire, and a person so wonderful Hermione can’t believe her luck that she ended up with him.
YES!!! Also, I’d like to add
What the world sees Ginny as: the bland love interest, a fangirl who ends up with her idol, a bit forced into the plot with no real character except her love for Harry.
What Ginny actually is: an extremely independent woman, won’t take shit from her brothers when they try to criticise her for who she goes out with, extremely loyal to her friends and family, an extremely talented seeker and Quidditch player in general, quite the prankster, an incredibly intimidating duellist whose bat bogey hex strikes fear in the hearts of those who dare cross her, and one of the active leaders of the rebellion in the 7th book, along with Neville and Luna.
harry ⚡️: foggy mornings, acting on impulse, doodles in the margins, oversized hoodies, devastating wit, an inexplicable feeling of emptiness, counting backwards, bad posture, rare but wide grins, natural talent, peering out the window, the constant weight of grief
ron ⚡️: private reassuring smiles, fighting to do better, folding paper airplanes, handstands in the grass, children’s folklore, the first ice cream scoop of the summer, pep talks, flippant intellect, sipping coffee in the morning, heartfelt reunions, the last move in a game of chess
hermione ⚡️: completed checklists, biting your nails, cobblestone roads, obsessing over a new skill, loose hair, wavering determination after failing, platted skirts, closed-mouthed smiles, scrawled handwriting, planning out conversations in your head, the eureka moment
luna ⚡️: silver ink, soaring kites, handwritten letters, finding things hidden in plain sight, nervously braiding your hair, the ability to keep a secret, lanterns, committing important details about others to memory, impressionist paintings, not giving up hope
ginny ⚡️: watching the sunset from high ground, honey in tea, knowing your way around the house blindfolded, a series of mixtapes, the winning shot in a game, kissing friends on the cheek, rolled up jeans, jumping into cold water, exceeding someone’s expectations
neville ⚡️: talking to the forest, sheepishly smiling, lowering yourself to level eye contact, a bowl of toffees on a desk, taking a deep breath, unexpected vindication, improving with time, the combined feeling of dread and anticipation, kneeling to being knighted

hp ladies ♡ Anything is possible if you’ve got enough nerve.
(2/2) Then again isn’t your favorite character the one who obsessed over a guy for 5 yrs and dated others to get his attention (“I never gave up on you”) and routinely tried to humiliate her brother infront of his best friend. Not to mention dissing a girl coz she’s prettier (if she’s so outspoken, why not tell fleur to her face to quit talking down to her? Or is her modus operandus hexing people’s faces off?)
I mean, you see what you want to see. I–and others–have said again and again and again how the idea that Ginny “obsessed” over Harry isn’t true, that she dated others on her own terms and not to get anyone’s attention, that she disliked Fleur because she was dismissive and rude to her, not because she was prettier. I could go on forever about how Ginny, in my opinion, is one of the best and most interesting female characters in the whole series, and by positioning all of her actions as being about her looks and her boyfriends and the men in her life, you’re doing her a disservice.
Except I doubt you’d listen to any of that, because everything you say shows the ridiculous double standard that you’re holding her to. People call Ginny passive and weak if she doesn’t directly tell people to quit talking down to her and call her a rude bitch if she does tell them off and call her violent and aggressive if she tries to hex them. If Ginny doesn’t date other boys she’s “obsessed” with Harry and needs to get over him but if she does then she’s a slut who’s only doing it to make Harry jealous.
Ginny stands up for herself and plays sports and shuts down conversations about her love life and makes jokes and goes on dates and protects other girls but all I hear is how she’s rude, she’s boring, she’s just jealous cause they’re prettier, she’s unrealistic because she’s too pretty, she’s too timid, she’s too angry, she’s too confident, she’s using love potions, she’s not confident enough, she’s nothing but a love interest but also Harry never even liked her.
Ask yourself: why do you need to hate Ginny so much that you looked through pages of my blog to find out that I liked her and ask me this question? Why is this so important to you personally? In a book full of murderers and racists (Pansy included!) and bigots and evil, why is a teenage girl the person you choose to hate?
“A lot of boys like her. Even you think she’s good-looking, don’t you Blaise, and we all know how hard you are to please.” (late birthday present for @ginervamollly )
can we appreciate the fact that Harry never made fun of Ginny for being obsessed with him and was always so kind to her
Honestly, Harry was like Ginny’ catch-22. All of her brother’s teased her. She grew up surrounded by loud, (with the exception of Percy), obnoxious brothers who either had no time for her, or just took the piss. (Bill being the possible exception, but he left home when she was still quite young.) Then comes along Harry, and she has an obvious crush on him, and he never pokes fun at her, ever, and he always makes time for her, and actively tries to talk to her.
- He asks her if she’s going to Hogwarts this year, (even though he knows that she is,) just to try and talk to her.
- She places her elbow in the butter dish, and he pretends it never happened.
- We never see him brush her away, even if he might not choose to confide in her.
- He gives her brand-new textbooks, because he knows she’s upset, although she didn’t complain, that she’s getting second-hand books and robes for school.
- He NEVER comments on anything she does that would be embarrassing to her. It never happens, not when she blushes, or stammers, of stumbles. NEVER.
For a girl with SIX older brothers, who take the mickey and/or have no time for her, this is like a fantasy. He’s someone she can be safe with. She has a crush on him, and because he takes that so well, she can’t ever get over her crush, because he’s just. so. nice. which makes her crush even harder, and so she blushes even more, and Harry keeps being good about it, and what can she do? The more she gets to know him, the harder she likes him, and he never humiliates her for it, and there is literally no escape for poor Ginny Weasley anymore.
She is doomed. It’s a deadly cycle and Harry is her Catch-22.
what is love?
