there is NOTHING better than a true power couple… the only two people who can keep up with each other, constantly testing one another, intimidating together, intimidating apart, an unrelentless, unstoppable force, the only two characters able to truly mellow and understand each other, god damn
ok also like percy has a lot of contained anger, the only outlet he has for it is through sarcasm and pointed retorts, but he literally has never had an outburst before. think about it, there is actually so much internal monologue and all of that anger just kinda swirls around inside him and never escapes in large amounts at one go.
whereas annabeth, on the other hand, has bouts of all this clenched up emotion inside of her and the moment it brims over she has breakdowns or tantrums (especially in pjo) and percy literally never projects at/on her but she does ??? like, even when he gets mad at her, he internalises it, and it even flips backwards sometimes and starts becoming his own problem because he can’t ever only be mad at annabeth because she’s annabeth, he’s always got some blame to spare for himself. even when he is mad at her there’s never an assignment of blame. it’s never accusatory. and he always feels bad about it afterwards nonetheless, even when she’s the one pissed at him and he isn’t even sure what he’s done but he feels shitty anyway ???
i lost where i was going with this but like it’s very one-sided sometimes, because annabeth confides in him significantly more than he does in her, especially in pjo when you can literally read all of his thoughts and there are multiple times he has a lot of shit to tell her but he doesn’t because it’s not the right time or someone interrupts. even in hoo, their innermost thoughts don’t reach verbally, they just kinda sense it ?? which points at a deeper level of corresponding than just “communication.” and annabeth bottles most of everything up anyway and no one can know so no one will know until she decides to tell.
this kinda all seems to lead to some kind of a lack of communication, but see that’s not really it because they’re bound by something more potent than that, and there is actually a lot of mutual understanding you can feel it glare off the pages especially in combat. i feel like their relationship is very instinctual and functions on the basis that annabeth’s feelings are actually more complex than her thoughts, because intelligence is just a natural inborn thing that she has while emotions on the other hand she’s never been good with, and percy’s reverse sometimes; annabeth is very expressive and outward with her feelings (just watch descriptions of her from other povs) while percy’s more taciturn and less overt, and all this also plays into the battlefield.
anyway. i just thought this was an interesting dynamic between them.
annabeth is definitely the kind of person who truly does not think she is a romantic but bursts into tears when someone gives her roses on valentine’s day
annabeth: p l e a s e romance is SO overrated why do we need grand sweeping gestures to demonstrate love, percy aren’t you so glad we’re free from this mass produced system

can the fandom like…. in general….. stop thinking the only girl percy can be shipped with is annabeth? people are allowed to ship different things? i keep seeing people messaging people who ship percy with a girl that isnt annabeth anon messages like “you don’t ship peRCABetH? whA t?????” even if its p clear they do ship percabeth (even if they dont its ok like…)? and like i know people on here try to play that off like “ok anon chill lol” but have you ever considered….. that people feel the same way about their ships that you feel about yours….. and that telling them their ship is Bad and Wrong might be hurting their feelings…. ive been seeing this a lot and its really toxic. i just feel like fandom should be fun and not competitive idk
Ok so idk if this is just me, but Percy have been through a lot together, so naturally they are very close and overall comfortable around each other. They rely on each other, have fought side by side, and taken bullets for each other.
You can ship percy or annabeth with anyone (although many will frown on it, and you should have a strong reason why you ship them with someone else)
But its kind of universal to ship percabeth, and personally, I can’t really imagine them with anyone else
